… on the road to Shree Kedar in the remote Nepalese Far West, returning to the festive animism of the West Terai Tharu villages and a brief visit to Siddharta Guatama in Lumbini
Of the night in the tent ….
Cold! Unexpectedly biting. The sleeping bag I’ve brought is insufficient… I put on my big socks and my T-shirt on top, like pyjamas. I wear a thicker long sleeved T-shirt and a sweatshirt with a hood and finally manage to get some decent sleep. Alien trumpet and drum sounds cut through the night, ringing incessantly through the nearby ‘theatre’ of the religious festival, together with frequent footsteps and voices from the many pilgrims chatting loudly as they pass in front of our camp. Other, quieter voices are to be heard from nearby tents. At 6.30 I definitely wake up, decide to repack my bag, fold up my sleeping bag and wait for coffee time which is habitually at 7: a steaming cup of good Italian coffee made with an ultra-classic Bialetti Moka coffee maker!
Good morning everyone!
